Hagerstown Maintenance - Maintenance Helper

Position overview:Under general direction, performs custodial and general maintenance services by keeping warehouse in clean and orderly condition. Performs heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing trash. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Clean warehouse floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming. Gather and empty trash. Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment. Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications. Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks. Notify supervisor concerning the need for major repairs. Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers and snow shovels and spread snow melting chemicals. Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as company barbeques or meetings. Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures Drives the warehouse sweeper, scrubber and other equipment as needed. Operates the Battery Changer, and maintains batteries with washing and watering. Loads the corrugated bales and plastic bales into the trailers using a forklift. Performs routine oiling and greasing of maintenance shop equipment. Other duties as needed. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Excellent communication skills Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally. Ability to stand, crouch, use ladders, and perform various types of manual labor. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance
