Astoria Healthcare Center - POSITION TITLEThe Administrator job description will provide the scope for the facility.Occupational Exposure: Category IDepartment: AdministrationReports to: AdministratorFLSA: ExemptPOSITION SUMMARYThe Assistant Administrator assists the Administrator in planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating all operational activities of the Facility in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations to ensure quality health care services are provided to residents. The Assistant Administrator supports the overall management of the Facility and may act on behalf of the Administrator in his/her absence. This position collaborates with department leaders to promote quality care, regulatory compliance, customer service, employee engagement, and operational efficiency.POSITION RELATIONSHIPCollaborates with all departments, the Administrator, Board of Directors, physicians,consultants, residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team (IDT) in assessingoperational needs and supporting quality resident care throughout the Facility.QUALIFICATIONSHigh School DiplomaPreferred 2+ years of skilled nursing facility experiencePreferred 1+ years of supervisory/management positionPROFESSIONALExcellent interpersonal skills and well-developed verbal and written communication skills.Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies and maintain a working knowledge of allgovernment regulations impacting Nursing Facilities.General knowledge of accounting principles and practices and a comprehensive knowledge of employee practices and standards.Knowledge of administrative management techniques, supervisory practices, procedures, and principles.Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak, and understand the spoken English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents, staff, and visitors when responding to medical and physical needs.On-call availability for Facility operations as needed.Must provide verification of TST (tuberculin skin test) as required by state law and in accordance with Company policy. TSTs will be administered at the work site if required.PERSONALMust have strong communication skills, both oral and written.Must have knowledge and awareness of the care needs of the elderly and/or chronically ill.Must possess leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams.Must have knowledge and ability to teach adult learners.Must have basic computer skills.PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES1. Interacts with residents, families, visitors, facility staff, consultants, vendors, andcommunity representatives.Assists with Facility operations and participates in hands-on intervention when necessary.Supports departmental operations and staffing needs as directed by the Administrator.Participates in facility meetings, committees, surveys, and quality improvement activities.Performs all other duties as assigned.RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIESAssists the Administrator in implementing the Facility's objectives as determined and directed by the governing body.Assists in overseeing daily operations of the Facility to ensure quality resident care and regulatory compliance.Supports department managers in the development, implementation, and monitoring of departmental policies and procedures.Puts customer service first: a. Ensures residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.Assists with preparation for state, federal, and local surveys and participates in survey processes as directed.Assists in ensuring the credentialing process is completed for all Licensed Independent Practitioners providing services in the Facility.Assists in monitoring budgetary performance, supply utilization, and purchasing activities within established guidelines.Supports recruitment, orientation, retention, and employee engagement initiatives.Assists with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, counseling, and disciplining personnel according to company policy.Assists with oversight of the physical plant and environmental safety programs.Promotes favorable public relations and represents the Facility in the community as directed.Develops and maintains positive relationships with residents, families, employees, physicians, and community partners.Assists with admission and discharge coordination as needed.Ensures the Facility adheres to legal, safety, health, fire, infection control, and sanitation regulations and policies.Participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities and committee meetings.Assists in monitoring incident reports, grievances, investigations, and corrective action plans.Reviews operational reports and communicates concerns and recommendations to the Administrator.Assumes responsibility for Facility operations in the absence of the Administrator as delegated.Maintains confidentiality of all resident and employee information.Performs all other duties as requested.PHYSICAL CAPACITIESBelow are the essential job functions needed to perform the job.The following frequency definitions record the appropriate symbol within the normal work day:(C) Constant: Activity exists 66% to 100% (e.g., 5 hours per 8-hour work day)(F) Frequent: Activity exists 34% to 65%(O) Occasional: Activity exists 1% to 33%(N) Never: Activity does not exist as a regular requirementThe following are the specified amount in weight in pounds.
