Special Education TeacherWe are accepting applications for potential Special Education Teacher openings for the 2026-2027 school year.New employees are expected to attend New Teacher Orientation on August 13th & 14th, and the week of staff professional development beginning August 17th. The first day of school for students is August 24, 2026.An SLCS Teacher is responsible for planning, instruction, activities, and assessments aligned with the SLCS curriculum. Teachers design and implement an integrated instructional program that supports an inclusion-based learning approach, fostering a safe environment that respects academic and cultural diversity.Teachers are also expected to collaborate with fellow educators and support staff to deliver instructional strategies that address a wide range of learning styles, individual needs, interests, abilities, and levels of student development.Among other things, the Special Education Teacher is responsible for:Assessing students' developmental, cognitive, emotional, and social needs, as well as learning styles, and providing developmentally appropriate instruction to meet those needsConducting academic assessments as required and using results, along with classroom observations, to support eligibility determinations and program decisionsCollaborating with classroom teachers to develop and implement instruction and activities that integrate, support, and enhance the SLCS curriculumDeveloping, monitoring, and reporting on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with established guidelinesEnsuring that differentiated instruction, accommodations, modifications, and other IEP components are consistently implementedServing as an advocate for students to ensure their educational and developmental needs are metEvaluating student performance and communicating progress with classroom teachers, support staff, and administrationPartnering with classroom teachers to identify students who may be at academic and/or behavioral riskPosition Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Education or a related fieldValid Pennsylvania Department of Education certification (Special Education N-8 or N-12 or other applicable certifications)Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to inclusive learning practicesAbility to work effectively in a collaborative team environmentStrong research, planning, and organizational skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to build positive relationships with students to support their developmentProficiency with Microsoft Office and GoogleThank you for your interest in a position with School Lane Charter School.
