PART- TIME ELEMENTARY SPANISH TEACHER the 2026-2027 Academic Year (25 hours/week)Join our growing community! We are currently seeking a Part-Time Elementary Spanish Teacher to join our dedicated faculty as we expand our lower elementary student body. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young learners in a child-centered, academically rich environment.GENERAL POSITION SUMMARYThe Part-Time Elementary Spanish Teacher implements and delivers an appropriately challenging world language curriculum.JOB SCOPETeaches lessons in Spanish collaborating with other world language acquisition teachers who teach the same language. Work closely with other elementary specialty guides for grouping students and planning cross-curricular activities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSImplements curricula in the classroom, including cultural activities related to the target languageEncourages students and creates meaningful activities through a balance of observation, guidance, and interventionKeeps records of student progressKeeps records of parent communication and reports same to Director of Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary as requiredMaintains an organized classroomPrepares a folder to guide substitute during planned and unplanned absencePrepares and submits required reports, including conference reports as outlined in the Employee Handbook, collaborating with other specialty guides who teach elementary studentsCommunicates with parents, administrators, and/or Student Support staff concerning the emotional and physical well-being of studentsCommunicates with Director of Lower Elementary, Director of Upper Elementary, Associate Head of School for Elementary, and/or Head of School as required, regarding student and parent related issuesParticipates in parent conferences as requiredMaintains classroom inventory and submits to Director of Lower Elementary at the end of each school yearCollaborates with Director of Lower Elementary regarding materials and classroom practicesAttends and actively participates in Specialty Guide meetings, and/or other meetings as assignedAssists with morning carpool duty as requiredAttends school, community, and/or parent education events as outlined in the Employee Handbook, or as assigned by Director of Lower ElementaryReports all accidents/incidents at once. Completes Incident Report and delivers copies of the same to parent and school nurse Complies with Employee Handbook for all other duties not listedMARGINAL FUNCTIONSCompletes bus driver training and drive students in an Alcuin school bus as requiredMentors new Language Acquisition teachers as requiredAssists with morning carpool duties as requiredRecruit and prepare 6th level students to participate in the annual ISAS school Spanish CompetitionKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSRequired:Ability to provide documents verifying authorization to work in the U.S.Must pass Criminal Background Checks, Drug Testing, and Reference CheckPrevious experience teaching the target languageBachelor’s Degree3 years of language classroom training experienceNative speaker of the target languageStrong interpersonal skillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Suite of productsAbility to interact and communicate professionally with colleagues, students, parents, and others in the school community, and during off-campus school related activitiesAbility to function as a team with colleagues and Director of Lower Elementary, and with others as requiredAbility to lead a group of students without assistance from another adultKnowledge of varied teaching strategies to differentiate learningFluency with a variety of technology tools to advance learningPassion and patience for working with children at their developmental levelsPreferred:5 years of language classroom training experience in the target languageExperience teaching in independent schoolsMaster’s DegreeWORK SCHEDULESchedule will be for 25 hours per week.
