Pay for this part-time position is $11.13 per hour with no benefits available. Time worked per week will not exceed nineteen (19) hours. Anticipated Begin Date: Applications will continue to be accepted on a continuous basis, even when there are no vacancies. However, when a vacancy does occur, only qualified candidates from the existing applicant pool will be contacted for an interview. The tutoring schedule will be determined based on need and availability and may include some evenings and/or Sunday afternoons. Hours may vary slightly for each position. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe duties and responsibilities of this position include the following: Tutor in the areas of Math, English, Science, and/or Computer Science at various levels. Provide one-on-one and group academic assistance and support to students. Facilitate supplemental programs such as Math Reviews, On Board, and Lunch and Learns. Check email where appropriate and correspond with students. Monitor sign-in stations and maintain attendance records for supplemental programs. Maintain order in tutorial labs. Report problems to the supervisor. Maintain a clutter-free environment. Follow all College safety and security procedures. Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College. Interact with and serve a diverse student population in a courteous and friendly manner. Adhere to College standards of professionalism and confidentiality, including courteous and friendly interaction with other CVCC employees. Maintain appropriate work hours as assigned by supervisor or dean. Maintain confidentiality of departmental and of College information. Represent the institution in a positive manner. Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsInterviews will only be extended to applicants who meet the minimum qualifications. Requests for copies of application materials, including transcripts, will be denied by the College.INTERVIEW PROCESS:Selected applicants will be contacted for in-person interviews with the Tutoring Center Coordinator and appropriate department chairperson. In-person interviews will consist of the interview (question/answer session) and a demonstration of tutoring skills. Applicants will be asked to complete the skills assessment in either math or English, or both if the applicant is interested in tutoring in both areas. Upon completion of the interviews, the Tutoring Center Coordinator will make recommendations to the Dean of Instruction and President, after which final employment decisions will be made. The College reserves the right to fill the position within one year of the stated anticipated starting date or not to fill the position due to budgetary or operational considerations. Further, the College reserves the right to fill more than one position in the same job classification should another vacancy occur during the search process.
