Johnston County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.DescriptionJohnston County Department of Social Services has an immediate opening for an Income Maintenance Caseworker II in Child Care Subsidy with the Crisis (Childcare, Emergency and Non-Emergency Medical Transportation) area. The Income Maintenance Caseworker II determines eligibility for Child Care Subsidy applications, recertifications, and any changes. This worker reports to the Income Maintenance II Supervisor for Crisis.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe primary purpose of the Income Maintenance Case Worker II position is to determine eligibility for Child Care Subsidy Applications, recertifications and changes in the NCFAST system that are received via ePass, fax, mail and/or agency drop box.Performs in-depth assessments as well as gathering and documenting information.Assess accuracy of information received to determine eligibility.Informs client of all available programs and makes referrals to appropriate programs or agencies.Keeps abreast of policies and procedures governing the program(s).Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks, and process a high volume of applications.This position completes third party verifications, telephone calls, emails and/or USPS mail communications with the applicant.This position will be cross trained to assist with the Energy program (LIEAP, CIP) which is also a part of the Crisis unit.Other duties may be assigned such as Shelter or Emergency Management duties during a disaster.Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesConsiderable knowledge of Child Care Subsidy and/or other Economic Services programs.General knowledge of NCFASTGood knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant.Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations and procedures.Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations and procedures.Strong organizational and time management abilities.Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, and the general public.Ability to present information orally or in written form.Desired Education and ExperienceOne year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker IWill accept IMC I work against:Graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Please document all work history relevant to the position for which you are applying.
