Director, Construction Management (Generation)Location: Flexible / Hybrid with travel to project sitesOverviewWe are seeking a Director of Construction Management to lead the safe, compliant, and high-quality delivery of new power generation assets across a diverse portfolio—including gas, peaking, renewables, storage, and emerging technologies.This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for construction strategy and execution from late-stage engineering through commissioning and turnover to Operations. You will play a critical role in ensuring assets are delivered on time, on budget, and ready for reliable Day One performance.If you are a strategic builder, safety champion, and operational leader who thrives in complex infrastructure environments—this is your opportunity to shape the future of generation.What You’ll DoStrategic LeadershipLead enterprise-wide construction execution across multiple generation projectsServe as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on risk, schedule, cost, and readinessEstablish best-in-class construction, safety, environmental, and quality standardsExecution & DeliveryOversee construction activities to ensure adherence to design specs, permits, and regulatory requirementsDrive seamless coordination across contractors, OEMs, commissioning partners, and internal teamsEnsure disciplined turnover to Operations (care, custody, and control)Safety & ComplianceChampion a world-class safety culture aligned with OSHA and company standardsEnsure compliance with all environmental, regulatory, and utility requirementsProactively identify and mitigate construction and commissioning risksOperational ExcellenceOwn construction budgets, forecasting, and cost controlsMonitor KPIs across safety, schedule, cost, and commissioning readinessResolve constructability and commissioning challenges in partnership with Engineering and PMPeople & OrganizationBuild and lead a high-performing team of construction leaders and quality professionalsDevelop talent, workforce strategies, and contractor performance management practicesSupport union and non-union workforce coordination aligned with labor agreementsWhat You Will BringRequired:12–15+ years of progressive experience in power generation or large industrial constructionProven leadership delivering large, complex infrastructure projectsStrong knowledge of construction execution, commissioning, and regulatory complianceExperience managing EPC contractors and third-party commissioning modelsDemonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholdersFamiliarity with union environments and utility labor strategiesPMP certificationPreferred:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related fieldWhy This Role MattersThis position is critical to ensuring new generation assets are delivered safely, compliantly, and operationally ready from Day One, enabling long-term reliability and performance.Work EnvironmentHybrid office + field presence at active construction sitesTravel required across project locationsThe preceding description is not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required of the position.As a public utility, NiSource is required to provide continuous service to customers at all times.
