With complex catheter market and DFM/costing knowledge, the Product Application Engineer will lead with technical expertise to drive new complex catheter product concepts into validated, commercialized product, partnering directly with business development and customers to deeply understand their application requirements and align these needs with a thorough knowledge of VitalPath’s capabilities to deliver optimal solutions.This role involves gaining a comprehensive understanding of customer-specific needs related to performance, reliability, availability, and developing solutions to ensure customer success. Working closely with key matrixed functions across VitalPath such as, R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance, you will own costing workflows for all opportunities.ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities include creating and presenting conceptual product design and proposals, quick turn quote facilitation, defining new custom product requirements, and managing customer expectations from initiation to product delivery.Conduct customer conversations and develop products based on application and feedback received.Provide critical evaluation of costs, concept performance vs customer need and competitive benchmarking.Be a trusted engineering consultant in customer-facing situations.Partner with R&D to produce a steady stream of technical improvements, which enable and recognize continuous product leadership.Partner in collaborative setting on strategic vision(s) of focus areas, driving competitive advantage and execution.Communicate status updates to senior management within the context of a structured process.Research and identify market trends and needs to be used to improve VitalPath’s Pipeline of future revenue.Other duties as assigned.RequirementsBachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field7+ years of experience in new product development or manufacturing engineeringExperience in writing and executing product validations in a regulatory industryEngineering, process development, or manufacturing experience in a cleanroom environmentFamiliarity with FDA, ISO 13485 regulatory and validation needs in a Tier 1 complex catheter CDMO environmentAbility to travel 10% of the timePreferred Skills & Experience5+ years of experience working in product development in a regulated industryPlastics/polymer molding, bonding and assembly experienceBackground working with filtration products or single use plasticsExperience with medical device or bioprocessing systems components a strong plusUnderstanding of regulatory requirements in medical device and emerging life science applicationsAbility to effectively operate within a team composed of and lead from differing locationsBenefitsComprehensive, Low Cost Health and Dental Insurance Plans AvailableVision InsuranceHealth Savings Account with company contributionShort and Long Term DisabilitySupplemental insurances (short term disability, AD&D, life insurance, and more)Paid Time OffSick Time OffPaid Holidays401K with company matchCompetitive compensationOpportunities for career growth and advancementVitalPath is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
