Position Title: Senior Director, Clinical Research (Full-Time) Reports to: Chief Medical OfficerLocation: Onsite – New Haven, CTAbout The Institute for Neurodegenerative Disorders (IND)The Institute for Neurodegenerative Disorders (IND), founded in 2000, is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit research institute based in New Haven, CT. IND is committed to advancing research, diagnosis, and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. IND is a rapidly growing, dynamic research institute conducting numerous clinical studies and projects focused on neurodegenerative disorders. The staff at IND includes physicians, nurses, and research and clinical operations support staff. IND studies include both focused single site biomarker and imaging studies and large multi-center studies. IND leadership is responsible for the overall leadership of the Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI), an international observations study begun in 2010 in collaboration with The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. PPMI has achieved unprecedented growth, expanding to over 50 global clinical sites with 4000+ participants. Learn more: https://www.indd.org/Position OverviewThis is a unique opportunity to conduct clinical research within a highly innovative and growing neurodegenerative research program. IND focuses exclusively on clinical research activities ranging from clinical biomarker studies to clinical therapeutic studies. At IND, you will:• Work at the forefront of multi-modal research, combining:• Clinical therapeutic development• Development of novel strategies to assess research participants prior to clinical symptoms• Advanced neuroimaging (PET/SPECT)• Digital biomarkers (wearables, movement sensors)• Sleep-based technologies (including RBD detection)• Virtual Research technologies• Lead clinical studies as the site Principal Investigator and/or Sub-Investigator across a diverse portfolio of high-impact clinical trials, including multi-site and imaging-based studies.• Contribute to scientific publications, investigator meetings, and present at international scientific conferences• Collaborate with an experienced clinical research leadership team and an experienced clinical research staff• Help shape the growth and future direction of clinical research programsPrincipal Investigator OwnershipLead and conduct clinical research on clinical biomarker studies and clinical therapeutic studies. Serve as site Principal Investigator with full responsibility for study conduct, protocol integrity, patient safety, clinical oversight, and regulatory compliance (GCP, IRB, FDA), while also collaborating with colleagues as Sub-Investigator across a portfolio of active trials. Act as the primary accountable individual for sponsor interactions and audits.Accountable for all medical and clinical aspects of assigned studies, including clinical decision-making and scientific integrity.Partner closely with Clinical Operations leadership, with operations being accountable for study execution, timelines, staffing, and delivery.Hands-On Clinical Leadership• Actively participate in: patient consenting and eligibility determination, neurological assessments, clinical assessments including lumbar punctures• Maintain a strong in-clinic presence while overseeing multiple active studiesTeam-Based Execution• Partner closely with the Sub-Investigators (MD/PA), Nurses and Clinical Research Coordinators• Lead through collaboration, setting clinical standards and ensuring high-quality executionScientific Contribution & Visibility• Lead and contribute to publications, abstracts, and presentations, and represent the IND at investigator meetings and scientific conferences.• Establish and grow as a recognized thought leader in neurodegenerative research.Innovation & Program Growth• Support an array of studies with cutting-edge research, including clinical therapeutics, prodromal biomarkers, molecular imaging, digital biomarkers (e.g., wearables, spine sensors), sleep-based monitoring, and other emerging technologies.• Support observational and interventional studies, including sponsored and investigator-initiated studies, focused predominantly on but not limited to early phase (Phase 1,2) and proof of concept studies.• Contribute to shaping the future growth of IND’s clinical research program by contributing to the expansion of study portfolio, new research initiatives and funding opportunities.Target Candidate Profile• Who You Are: You are an experienced clinician who brings clinical research expertise. You have conducted clinical studies and therapeutic interventional trials as the site principal investigator and have experience taking full accountability for study conduct, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.• You enjoy clinical research and are both hands-on in the clinic and collaborative by nature, working closely with other Investigators and Sub-Investigators, nurses, and Clinical Research Coordinators to deliver high-quality research. You have experience engaging with sponsors and contributing to the scientific narrative through publications and presentations.• You are curious, adaptable, and energized by innovation, particularly in areas such as neuroimaging and digital biomarkers, observational and interventional research trials, and emerging approaches to understanding neurodegenerative disease.Qualifications/Requirements• MD with active U.S. license (CT license or ability to obtain)• Board-certified Neurologist• Experience in neurodegenerative research• Prior experience serving as site Principal Investigator (PI) on clinical trials• Strong understanding of clinical trial conduct, safety, and regulatory requirements• Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in clinic• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary research and operational teams.• Preferred: Exposure to imaging-based studies (PET/SPECT)• Preferred: Familiarity with digital biomarkers or wearable technologies• Preferred: Interest in publishing and presenting scientific dataCompensation and BenefitsIND believes that when their people are supported, they can do their best work.
