Operations Manager – FedEx Ground Contractor (Kansas City Metro)

About D&A Logistics D&A Logistics is an established FedEx Ground Independent Service Provider (ISP) operating multiple delivery routes across the Kansas City metro. We pride ourselves on safety, reliability, and a strong team culture. We are seeking a highly organized, hands-on Operations Manager to lead our daily terminal operations and support our continued growth. Position: Operations Manager This role manages day-to-day operations, driver performance, fleet readiness, safety compliance, and FedEx coordination. You are the backbone of daily operations and a critical leader within our company. Key Responsibilities Operations & Dispatch Manage daily dispatch for 8–20 routes at the KCMO terminal Ensure all trucks leave on time, fully equipped, fueled, and compliant Oversee package flow, DEX compliance, exceptions, and terminal communication Adjust routes based on volume, weather, or staffing needs Maintain operational KPIs and submit daily/weekly reports Driver Leadership Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard drivers Create weekly schedules and route assignments Conduct safety meetings and ride-alongs Manage performance, attendance, coaching, and corrective action Maintain driver qualification files (MVR, background, DOT compliance) Fleet & Equipment Management Coordinate vehicle maintenance, inspections, PMs, and repairs Respond to breakdowns and manage substitute vehicles Track scanners, chargers, uniforms, and safety gear Ensure vehicles pass FedEx safety & appearance standards Payroll & Administration Approve timesheets, daily pay, incentives, PTO, and bonuses Submit corrections or discrepancies to accounting Maintain accuracy of driver logs and safety documentation Assist with onboarding paperwork and HR compliance Safety & FedEx Compliance Lead safety initiatives, including monthly and quarterly programs Ensure full compliance with ISP & FedEx regulations Track incidents, damages, customer claims, and training records Coordinate with FedEx terminal management on audits, reviews, and follow-ups Customer & Terminal Communication Handle customer escalations passed from FedEx Investigate mis-deliveries, damages, and lost package cases Communicate with FedEx management, station leads, and package handlers Attend meetings when requested by the terminal Peak Season Planning Hire and train seasonal drivers Prepare for high-volume weeks (Black Friday → Christmas) Reroute for heavy density days and coordinate with backup drivers Qualifications FedEx Ground or Amazon DSP experience strongly preferred 2+ years in logistics, operations, transportation, or supervisory roles Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, early-morning environment Must pass a background check, MVR screening, and drug test Schedule Full-time, onsite at KCMO FedEx terminal Start time 6:30 AM (earlier during peak) Some weekend availability required Benefits Performance-based bonuses Paid time off Health Insurance Company phone/tablet Opportunity for advancement as routes grow How to Apply Send your resume and a short introduction to: dalogisticsusa@gmail.com Job Type: Full-time Pay: $49,285.22 - $59,354.25 per year Benefits: Dental insurance Flexible schedule Health insurance Paid time off People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply Work Location: In person
