Dental Assistant
PER DIEM POSITION -
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the RDA Lead, the Dental Assistant supports dentists and dental hygienists by assisting with patient care, dental procedures, sterilization, and patient education. This role helps ensure efficient clinic flow while delivering high-quality, patient-centered dental services.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet, seat, and dismiss patients; maintain steady patient flow
Assist dentists and hygienists chairside during procedures
Take, scan, and transfer digital X-rays
Prepare treatment rooms; sterilize instruments and maintain clean operatories
Provide oral hygiene instruction and patient education
Perform permitted duties including impressions, topical fluoride application, suture removal, and pulp testing per regulations
Maintain dental equipment and assist with inventory and supply orders
Document care in electronic dental records (EDR)
Follow OSHA and infection control standards
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and quality improvement activities
Travel to other clinic sites as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma required
Dental Assistant certificate required
Current CPR certification
Dental assisting experience preferred
Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
Ability to work well in a fast-paced clinical environment
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for most of the workday
Lift up to 40 lbs and push up to 100 lbs (on wheels)
Manual dexterity and visual acuity required
May be exposed to infectious diseases
