Team members collaborate to provide comprehensive care that addresses not only substance use, but also underlying emotional, psychological, and social factors.Role Description This full-time, on-site Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse role is based at Absolute Awakenings Treatment Center in Morris Plains. The Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse will provide psychiatric evaluations, mental health assessments, and medication management for adolescent clients undergoing treatment for addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and adjusting treatment plans, monitoring therapeutic and medication responses, and collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, counselors, and medical staff. The role involves maintaining accurate clinical documentation, participating in case conferences, and providing psychoeducation to clients and their support networks about mental health, recovery, and medication adherence. The nurse will also help ensure that care is evidence-based, trauma-informed, and aligned with organizational policies, ethical guidelines, and regulatory standards.QualificationsAdvanced clinical skills in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner practice, with the ability to conduct assessments, formulate diagnoses, and provide ongoing psychiatric care.Knowledge of Psychiatry and Mental Health, including experience with co-occurring disorders, crisis management, and evidence-based interventions in addiction treatment settings.Foundational understanding of Medicine as it relates to addiction, psychopharmacology, and the interaction between medical and psychiatric conditions.Current, unrestricted license as an Advanced Practice Nurse (or equivalent) with psychiatric specialization or certification, in accordance with local regulations.Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills; ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and build trust with diverse client populations.Demonstrated commitment to ethical, culturally sensitive, and nonjudgmental care for individuals in recovery.Experience in substance use treatment, behavioral health, or related clinical environments is strongly preferred.Master’s degree or higher in Nursing or a related advanced practice field is required.
