Job Description – Enterprise Architect (Healthcare)Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – onsite within 2 hours)Contract: Long-term contractOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to support a large-scale healthcare environment, partnering closely with IT leadership and business stakeholders to define and execute enterprise-wide technology strategy.This role will play a key part in shaping architecture standards, guiding modernization initiatives, and ensuring alignment between business goals and technology solutions across a complex, fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesEvaluate IT projects to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards and strategic objectivesDefine high-level architecture, technology roadmaps, and target state solutionsEstablish and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks across:ApplicationsDataInfrastructureIntegrationSecurityGovern architecture standards, ensuring compliance across systems and projectsDrive modernization, scalability, and lifecycle management of IT servicesCollaborate with business and IT leaders to ensure secure, interoperable solutionsDevelop architecture artifacts including diagrams, blueprints, and roadmapsIntegrate risk management, compliance, and security into architecture practicesAssess emerging technologies and industry trends to inform strategyMap business capabilities to IT systems to ensure investment alignmentAct as a trusted advisor and internal consultant to technical teams and leadershipMentor engineering teams and promote best practices in architectural thinkingRequired Experience10+ years of experience designing and delivering enterprise technology solutionsStrong background in enterprise architecture within complex environmentsExperience with architecture governance, standards, and frameworksProven ability to align technology strategy with business outcomesHealthcare industry experience Preferred ExperienceExperience with public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)Experience leading or supporting large-scale transformation initiativesBackground in project or program deliveryTechnical ExpertiseEnterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF)Cloud architecture (Azure Cloud Adoption Framework or similar)Strong understanding of:Cloud & infrastructure designAPIs & integration patternsDatabases, virtualization, and distributed systemsFamiliarity with development languages such as:Java, C#, Python, PowerShellSDLC methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, DevOps)Governance & ComplianceExperience with IT governance frameworks (ITIL, PMBOK)Strong knowledge of security and compliance standards:NIST, ISO 27001, SOCHIPAA, HITRUSTUnderstanding of risk management and regulatory requirementsHealthcare & Interoperability (Nice to Have)Experience with healthcare standards:FHIRHL7X12Understanding of interoperability and connected healthcare ecosystemsSoft SkillsStrong stakeholder management and executive communication skillsAbility to influence and drive adoption of architecture principlesAnalytical thinker with strong problem-solving capabilitiesBusiness-focused mindset with an understanding of ROI and cost optimizationCollaborative, adaptable, and hands-on approach
