CityGeo is performing some of the most innovative work in municipal government on data analytics, application development, use of imagery and management of governance and multi-departmental stakeholder collaborationJob DescriptionOIT is seeking a candidate with considerable technical knowledge and experience in the telephony field. The Telecommunication Technician will be responsible for installation, maintenance, and operational support of all Voice communications.The Telecommunication Technician will interface with the Communications manager, voice technical team, network, IT support team and departments.Essential FunctionsTroubleshoot and identifies software, hardware, telecommunications (traditional and VoIP) problems, using diagnostic equipment as necessary.Configure, install, and program communication systems and related communication equipment; assembles component system parts; review diagrams, floor plans, charts, and technical manuals for installation of new systems.Troubleshoot, repairs and inspect communication systems and related equipment such as headsets for proper operation or to determine malfunctioning components; disassemble and reassemble of phone unitsUse of testing equipment to locate trouble source; test for system failures; test for defective system components; test for proper operation of installed system components and related equipmentRun and terminate and test voice and data cabling; troubleshoot cable pairs and is familiar with telephony tools and equipment.Other responsibilities include running system backupsWork on NEC SV9300 and SV9500 systemsWork on legacy NEC phone systems Neax2000QualificationsCompletion of an associate degree program at an accredited college or university with a major course work in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related fieldAny equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Innovation & Technology and Human Resources.Competencies, Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesCommunicate clearly and effectively both in written and verballyOrganize information and workExcellent analytical & organizational skillsAbility to work in a team environmentAbility to take direction and work independentlyRequired knowledge of installations, maintenance, and service of VoIP services as well as traditional voice services that may interact with the VoIP services Required knowledge of over-the-top communications servicesKnowledge of NEC SV8300/9300 and NEC SV8500/9500 a plusKnowledge of NEC 2000Knowledge of ACD/IVRSpeak effectively before customersAdditional InformationSalary Range: $48,000-$53,505Salary cannot exceed $53,505All applications must include a cover letter.
