Maintenance & Reliability Supervisor - Night ShiftLocation: Sun Prairie, WisconsinDepartment: MaintenanceCore Responsibilities Lead Safe Maintenance ExecutionProvide hands-on leadership to ensure all maintenance work is performed safely and in compliance with site policies (LOTO, confined space, hot work, etc.).Proactively identify risks, verify hazards, and ensure proper controls are in place.Reinforce strong safety and environmental practices, including food safety, housekeeping, and equipment guarding. Own Nightly Maintenance OperationsLead execution of the maintenance schedule while aligning priorities with production needs.Ensure job readiness, including scope, tools, instructions, and labor availability.Drive accurate and high-quality work order completion within the CMMS, including documentation and follow-up actions. Drive Equipment Reliability & Precision MaintenancePromote best practices in mechanical maintenance, including precision alignment, lubrication, and troubleshooting.Oversee installation and maintenance of bearings, belts, chains, motors, conveyors, and packaging equipment.Partner with operations teams to reduce downtime and eliminate recurring equipment issues. Lead and Develop the Maintenance TeamEstablish clear expectations around safety, quality, and performance.Provide coaching, training, and feedback to strengthen technical and leadership capabilities.Foster accountability, teamwork, and a culture of continuous improvement. Support Repairs, Projects, and Continuous ImprovementCoordinate major repairs and maintenance activities.Support installation, startup, and optimization of new equipment or process improvements.Collaborate with leadership to implement reliability and operational efficiency initiatives. Strengthen Preventive Maintenance ExecutionEnsure preventive maintenance tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.Convert equipment inspections into planned corrective actions.Continuously improve maintenance processes to maximize uptime and reduce emergency repairs.Success Metrics (First 6-12 Months)Reduction in unplanned downtime and emergency maintenance.Improved schedule execution and reduced delays.Increased equipment reliability and fewer repeat failures.Higher engagement and technical capability within the maintenance team.Stronger collaboration between maintenance and production departments.Key Performance MeasuresSafety & Compliance: Safe work practices, incident reduction, audit performance.Execution: Schedule completion, work order closure, response times.Reliability: Equipment uptime, repeat failure reduction, downtime improvement.Maintenance Systems: PM completion rates, CMMS accuracy, backlog management.Cost Control: Overtime management, parts utilization, contractor efficiency.QualificationsExperience in manufacturing, food production, or industrial maintenance environments.Proven leadership or supervisory experience in fast-paced operations.Strong mechanical aptitude with a focus on reliability and preventive maintenance.Preferred QualificationsExperience in food or bakery manufacturing environments.Hands-on expertise with conveyors, mixers, ovens, packaging equipment, and drive systems.Experience working with CMMS or similar maintenance systems.Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.Technical training, certifications, or equivalent hands-on experience.
