A Series A developer infrastructure company is building a modern unified messaging API that enables businesses to send A2P messages across SMS, WhatsApp, and RCS through a single integration. Its intelligent routing engine automatically selects the optimal channel based on deliverability and cost, helping customers achieve global reach without managing channel-specific implementations.The company is now hiring its first Developer Advocate to serve as the technical voice of the product and shape how developers discover, adopt, and succeed with the platform.This is a founding DevRel role reporting directly to the CEO, with full ownership of developer experience, community building, and technical storytelling.What you’ll doBuild and ship demos and sample applications (e.g., chatbot integrations, messaging-based billing flows, agentic messaging systems)Create technical content including tutorials, comparison posts, videos, and integration guidesEngage with developer communities across X, GitHub, Reddit, Hacker News, and Discord to drive awareness and adoptionHost live onboarding sessions, office hours, and in-person developer events (NYC-focused)Act as the primary technical point of contact for developers integrating with the APIGather feedback from developers to inform product direction and roadmapWhat the role requires4–8 years of software engineering experience (formal SWE background required)1–2+ years in Developer Relations, DevRel, or a public-facing technical roleStrong ability to independently build API integrations and end-to-end demosProven track record of technical content creation (blogs, GitHub repos, demos, talks, videos)Comfortable engaging publicly with developers and building early-stage communitiesBonus: experience with messaging systems, APIs, or developer infrastructure products
