Import/Export Operations supervisor

Position Overview: We are actively seeking a self-motivated, problem-solving, and responsible individual to oversee our ocean and air import/export operations. The ideal candidate should also have a strong sales background, capable of retaining and acquiring new customers when needed. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, specializing in ocean and air import/export operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Communicate via email with overseas partners to coordinate bookings and sailing schedules.
Keep customers well-informed about new bookings, sailing schedules, and competitive rates.
Proactively manage pre-alerts and ensure timely filing of ISF (Importer Security Filing).
Oversee the receipt and input of pre-alert information into our systems.
Prepare arrival notices, handle customs clearance, and manage final delivery processes.
Provide weekly shipment status reports to keep customers updated in real time.
Execute accurate invoicing and update cost information.
Demonstrate expertise in ocean export operations, including ACE filing.
Maintain a strong commitment to delivering excellence in customer service.
Manage shipments from initiation to completion.
Serve as the primary point of contact for both new and existing clients.
Communicate and write professionally at all times.
Occasionally make sales calls as required.
Job Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, with a focus on ocean import/export operations.
Preferred: 2 years of experience using Freight Stream operating system and proficiency in Chinese.
Strong understanding of freight forwarding, including import/export processes.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a high-demand environment.
Proficiency in analyzing costs, rates, freights, and processes using computer tools.
Essential knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word), with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective coordination with stakeholders.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong professional writing skills, particularly in drafting emails.
Critical thinking skills with the ability to troubleshoot independently before escalating issues.
