Housekeeping Attendant The Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order, ensuring a welcoming environment for guests and attendees. Key duties include cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, meeting rooms, and public areas, as well as restocking supplies and reporting maintenance issues. Attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. This position may require evening scheduling.Illustrative duties include following assigned post orders to clean assigned areas including stocking cart and supplies, removing and disposing of trash in proper receptacles, cleaning various surfaces using correct cleaning techniques and supplies, maintaining clean restrooms, public areas, inner offices, exhibit halls, meeting rooms, ballrooms, theater, pre-function areas, and event spaces, polishing and cleaning exit stairwells, loading docks and service areas, polishing and cleaning passengers and freight elevators, stairways, and escalators, making routine building tours to ensure a clean environment in the facility, using daily event reports and details to set and refresh rooms to client specifications, using correct radio etiquette to respond to requests in a timely and professional manner, correcting or reporting safety hazards, and may serve as lead worker for temporary employees. The employee operates various types of equipment including but not limited to I-MOP floor machine, Kaivac cleaning machine, vacuum (push and riding), window cleaning systems, pressure washer, and scrubbers. The employee may be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs, attends work on a regular and consistent basis, must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances, responds to emergency situations, and performs other duties as assigned.Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and one year of experience of a maintenance or housekeeping worker. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of appointment and maintain thereafter.Knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to understand and demonstrate the correct use, storage, and labeling of cleaning agents, ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing to groups and individuals, ability to respond to emergency situations, ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, ability to work under stressful conditions, ability to interact effectively with others, and must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.ADA requirements include mental demands such as the ability to read and comprehend safety instructions, procedures, floor plans, memos, and directions, ability to write simple sentences relaying information, physical demands such as the ability to see, talk, and hear, ability to pull, push, lift, carry 35 pounds, visual acuity (peripheral vision, depth perception) to operate motorized vehicles and machines, and environmental demands such as inside and outside work, ability to tolerate inclement weather including but not limited to heat, humidity, wind and cold, may require exposure to chemicals, dust, insects, noise, fumes, and confined spaces.Volusia County is a drug free workplace and an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to a diverse workforce.
