The faculty member is an academic professional committed to excellence in teaching, advising, scholarship, and service, who has and maintains academic and practical competence in the accounting field. The faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in both traditional (in-person) and online programs. The teaching role also includes online curriculum development. Rank will be determined based on academic credentials.Position ResponsibilitiesPrepares for and teaches course loads (typically 24 credits) as assigned and with effectiveness.Teaches a variety of accounting courses in the business and accounting majors, in both on-ground and online delivery formats.Creates online course content as necessary and assigned.Serves as a faculty advisor for assigned students, assisting in mentoring and oversight of advisees' progression toward degree completion.Remains competent and conversant in the accounting field.Fulfills faculty service requirements, including university committees, assignments, and functions as required of a full-time faculty member.Fulfills the expectations for faculty scholarship and creative/professional endeavor as required of a full-time faculty member.Participates in academic department and college meetings and activities.Provides spiritual mentoring for students and support for colleagues.Participates in graduation exercises as required and appropriate.Reviews, understands, and follows the employee expectations enumerated in the faculty handbook.Understands and follows FERPA regulations.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsAcademic credentials suitable for a faculty role in accounting: for a tenure-track position, this would be a doctorate. For a lecturer position, this would be an MBA with a specialization in accounting or a master's degree in accounting.Professional accounting work experience and CPA license strongly preferred.Demonstrated excellence teaching accounting at the undergraduate level.Demonstrated excellence facilitating online courses for undergraduate or graduate students.Proficiency (or ability and willingness to acquire proficiency) with online learning tools and software platformsProficiency (or ability and willingness to acquire proficiency) in providing video content for online learners.Demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, service, and administration.Demonstrated capacity for integrity, honesty, and principled behavior.About Eastern UniversityEastern University is a Christian university of the arts and sciences that integrates faith, reason and justice for students in its undergraduate, graduate, seminary, urban, professional and international programs.
