OSP Engineer (Contract/Remote)

OSP Engineer (Full Time, 12 month Contract;Remote)Optomi, in partnership with one of our clients, is seeking an OSP Engineer to support large-scale outside plant network planning and bandwidth augmentation initiatives across fiber access networks. This role is responsible for identifying network capacity constraints, developing cost-effective OSP planning solutions, and preparing planning-level scopes and estimates that support future network growth and service reliability. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in outside plant planning, fiber network architecture, and capacity planning, with the ability to analyze network utilization, engineering records, maps, and infrastructure data to develop scalable augmentation strategies. This individual will partner closely with engineering, construction, core planning, and cross-functional teams to evaluate network demand, secure project funding, and transition approved OSP expansion projects into engineering and construction while supporting long-term network growth objectives.Responsibilities:Review bandwidth utilization, customer demand, and network capacity data to identify areas requiring outside plant network augmentation.Develop cost-effective OSP planning solutions for fiber reinforcement, capacity relief, and new equipment placement.Analyze network records, engineering drawings, facility assignments, maps, and utilization data to assess existing infrastructure and future capacity needs.Prepare planning-level project scopes, cost estimates, and supporting documentation for proposed OSP expansion projects.Collaborate with engineering, construction, core planning, and cross-functional teams to validate solutions and transition approved projects into execution.Support project funding requests while ensuring planning decisions align with network growth objectives, budget requirements, and service reliability.Proactively evaluate network growth trends and recommend scalable OSP solutions that prevent capacity constraints and support future customer demand.Apply today if your background includes:Experience in telecommunications outside plant (OSP) planning, engineering, or fiber infrastructure.Strong knowledge of fiber network architecture, including feeder, distribution, and access network infrastructure.Experience planning bandwidth augmentation, capacity relief, fiber reinforcement, or network expansion projects.Ability to interpret network records, engineering drawings, facility assignments, utilization reports, and GIS/network mapping data.Experience preparing planning-level project scopes, cost estimates, and supporting documentation for OSP initiatives.Proven ability to collaborate with engineering, construction, core planning, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable network solutions.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with experience evaluating network growth trends and recommending cost-effective capacity improvements.
