Purchasing Manager (Indirect + MRO Procurement)Location: Livingston, CA Compensation: $140,000-$150,000 + 10% bonusOverviewA leading, large-scale manufacturing organization is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead indirect procurement across a multi-site operational footprint. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for managing a significant spend portfolio and driving strategic sourcing initiatives that directly influence cost, efficiency, and supplier performance.The role offers the opportunity to lead a team, optimize procurement processes, and partner closely with operations and finance to enhance overall business performance.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Sourcing & Cost OptimizationOwn and manage $200M+ in indirect spend across MRO, indirect supplies, and site servicesLead competitive sourcing events, supplier negotiations, and contract developmentIdentify and execute cost savings initiatives through analytics, process improvements, and supplier consolidationDevelop and implement category strategies aligned with business objectivesSupplier & Contract ManagementManage a large portfolio of supplier relationships and agreements across multiple locationsEstablish supplier KPIs and conduct business reviews to drive performance improvementsEnsure consistent contract terms, pricing structures, and service levels across the organizationTeam LeadershipLead and develop a team of procurement professionals (buyers, coordinators, and agents)Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to drive team effectivenessFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with operations, maintenance, and finance teams to align procurement strategiesSupport plant-level needs while driving enterprise-wide sourcing standardizationAssist with risk management initiatives related to suppliers, compliance, and safetyProcess Improvement & GovernanceImprove procurement processes using lean / continuous improvement methodologiesEnsure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical sourcing practicesLeverage ERP systems and analytics tools to enhance visibility and decision-makingQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree (Business, Engineering, or related field)5+ years of procurement or sourcing experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience within indirect procurement (MRO, services, or indirect materials)Proven track record in supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost reductionPrior leadership experience managing or mentoring procurement teamsStrong analytical skills (advanced Excel; ERP systems such as SAP preferred)PreferredMBA or advanced degreeExperience in complex, multi-site manufacturing environmentsFamiliarity with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)Exposure to large-scale indirect spend categories across operationsWhat Makes This Role AttractiveOwnership of a large, high-visibility spend portfolioOpportunity to drive transformational improvements in procurementDirect impact on operational efficiency and company profitabilityLeadership role with both strategic and hands-on responsibilitiesWork EnvironmentFully on-site role in a fast-paced manufacturing settingRequires collaboration with plant operations and cross-functional stakeholdersOccasional travel to support business needs
