Full-Time Medical Assistant - Family Medicine Reports To: Head Nurse137-43 45th AvenueQueens, New York, 11355United StatesResponsibilities Direct patient care and supportPerform nursing tasks under the direction of the registered nurse or authorized health care providersInterview patients and records medical history, take vital signs, and prepare patients for medical visitsConduct health/risk screening using standardized toolsCollect laboratory specimens as orderedAssist providers in procedures using sterile or aseptic techniquesPromote patient self-management by providing patient education, appointment reminders and support in collaboration with the care teamFacilitate communication for patients and health care providers by providing translation or interpretation as neededComplete accurate EMR documentation of patient information and services providedEffective teamwork, communication and collaboration as part of practice-wide care teamDemonstrate curiosity and understanding of patient registration, administrative workflows and prior authorization processesCollaborate with the care team to conduct pre-visit planning and post-visit follow-upParticipate in Quality Improvement (QI) projects and other related activitiesMaintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; and participating in team problem-solvingAdapt to changes in practice operations, workflows and patient needs as they emergePerform other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications High School Diploma and 2 years of work experienceAssociate's Degree preferredWork experience in the health care field preferredMedical Assistant Certification preferredBasic CPR (BCLS) Certification required (Health Center will provide if needed)Bilingual in English/Chinese preferredExcellent interpersonal skills, ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary teamGood problem solving skills and interested in learning all aspects of the practiceCompensation and Benefits: Salary: $40,000.00 - 46,000.00 per yearMedical insuranceEmployer-paid dental, vision, disability and life insurance403(b) retirement savings planFlexible spending accounts for transit, parking, health and dependent carePaid time off (28 days for the first year of employment)Employee Assistance ProgramEmployee Discount ProgramsTuition reimbursement for eligible employees, andThe Health Center is qualified for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program
