Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Onsite – Tucson, AZClearance Required: Active DoD SecretEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related)Position OverviewWe are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support a high‑priority DoD munitions modernization and production acceleration program. This role will focus on the mechanical design, development, and production support of interceptors, rockets, and missile systems critical to U.S. national defense.The engineer will work on site in Tucson, AZ, collaborating with systems, manufacturing, quality, and test teams to rapidly mature designs from concept through production while meeting stringent performance, safety, and compliance requirements. Key ResponsibilitiesPerform mechanical design and development of missile, rocket, and interceptor subsystems and assembliesSupport accelerated production and sustainment of critical munitions programsCreate and modify 3D models, drawings, and engineering documentation in accordance with DoD and industry standardsConduct design analysis (tolerance, thermal, structural, manufacturability, integration) to ensure form, fit, and functionInterface with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and test teams to resolve design issues and improve producibilitySupport prototype builds, qualification testing, and production troubleshootingParticipate in design reviews, change control boards, and configuration management activitiesEnsure compliance with DoD, safety, and program requirements throughout the product lifecycle Required QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering disciplineActive DoD Secret clearance (must be eligible to access classified programs)Experience or academic background in mechanical design of complex assembliesProficiency with 3D CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar)Ability to work 100% onsite in Tucson, AZStrong understanding of engineering fundamentals, materials, and manufacturing processesU.S. citizenship required Preferred / Desired QualificationsExperience supporting missile, rocket, interceptor, or aerospace defense programsFamiliarity with DoD development and production environmentsExperience supporting high‑rate or accelerated production programsExposure to DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, thermal or structural considerationsExperience working on classified programs Work EnvironmentMission‑critical defense programFast‑paced, production‑oriented engineering environmentDirect impact on U.S. and allied defense readiness
