In addition, provides general clerical support to assist in the smooth functioning and operation of the Medical Staff Office.Major Job FunctionsThe following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Initiates processing of applications for medical staff/AHP appointment to ensure that appropriate verification of information is obtainedInitiates processing of applications for medical staff/AHP reappointment to ensure that applications are processed prior to expiration of current appointmentAssures medical staff/AHP files are kept current and organized in an orderly mannerAssists in maintaining current physician/AHP databaseProvides back-up to attend meetings and record minutesResponds to requests for information, applications, etc.Answers incoming calls, routes callers, takes messages and gives routine informationPerforms routine clerical duties to ensure the smooth function of the officeOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education And Formal TrainingHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate’s degree in Secretarial Science preferredWork Experience2 years’ experience in a responsible secretarial position is requiredBackground in medical staff credentialling in a hospital setting preferredPrevious experience in recording and transcribing minutes and with credentialling software preferredKnowledge, Skills, And Abilities RequiredKnowledge of regulatory (Joint Commission, CMS, HCQIA) requirements related to medical staff services/credentialing preferredKnowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint as well as flow chartsExcellent organizational skillsWritten, verbal, and communication skillsAbility to work with the publicAbility to work with highly sensitive information and materials, therefore, able to keep confidentialityProficient in operation of typewriter, word processor, calculator, dictating equipment, copy machines, fax machines and multi-line telephone equipmentAbility to type at a sustained speed of at least 50 words per minutesPhysical RequirementsWork is sedentary in natureMay on occasion require attendance at early morning and late evening meetingsRequired Licenses And CertificationsCape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
