Shift: Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM + Night Call 4:00 PM – 7:00 AM; Weekend Call 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM Position Details: Patient Population: Outpatient and Inpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery Patients (Avg.10 outpatients/day; 5–8 inpatients/day)Setting: Saint Joseph Health System – SJ Cardiothoracic Surgery; multi-hospital, faith-based health system with advanced surgical technology Responsibilities: Assist in cardiothoracic surgery (1st Assist only) including vein/artery harvesting using Maquet system Pre-op physical exams, order tests, write prescriptions, rounding, discharge summaries Suture and staple removal, cardiac rehab, wound care, chest tube and pacing wire removal Acute and chronic patient care, including inpatient and outpatient consultations Participate in multidisciplinary care coordination with surgeons, nursing, respiratory, and rehab staff Respond to emergencies using CPR and ACLS protocols Document all care in EMR (Cerner, Next Gen, Epic) Required Procedures: Vein Harvesting, First Assist Surgery, Pre/Post-Op Care, Cardiac Procedures EMR System: Varies (Cerner, Next Gen, Epic)Support Staff: Standard surgical and hospital xsgimln support staff Days Per Month: Monday – Friday, plus night and weekend call On-Call/Weekends: Night call and weekend coverage Submission Requirements: Indiana License (Active at time of submission)NCCPA Certification (PA) or AANP Certification (NP)Experienced in Maquet Vein Harvesting and first assist in CTSProof of COVID-19 vaccination Self-Query NPDB report (current month)Minimum experience preferred (No new grads) Join us today!
