Composite Extrusion Operator - Ennis

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Composite Extrusion Operator ensures the proper, efficient, and safe operation of the composite extrusion machine...The Composite Extrusion operator will document and communicate to department Manager all production data.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Understand all process/product quality attributes along with product testing
Understand all process/product quality attributes along with product testing for lamination
Work in a self-directed/team environment
Responsible for meeting the OEE target
- using root cause analysis for Continuous Improvement tools to close any gaps
Understand and troubleshoot all line equipment (mechanical and controls)
Work safely, completing daily safety audits, preventing accidents, and increasing the safety environment of the work area
Focus on Housekeeping of your work area. Responsible for a clean and organized handoff from shift to shift
Able to maintain and change out safely and efficiently the full hot die pack using prescribed procedures
Comply with all process Standardization and Engineering specs
Responsible for following color change, product change, startup, shutdown, and setup standard work procedures
Required to operate all lines at engineered rate, to OEE targets, fill out paperwork accurately, follow schedule, and maintain proper raw material levels
Required to comply with all manufacturing quality standards and meet daily efficiency goals
Monitor and adjust Gage, Cap stock, Color, and Glass Content to meet Quality Standards and Company Goals
Maintain 5S
Control color contamination and prevent mixed color
Do not create 2T, and prevent contamination from being placed on scrap racks
Manage Silo material as needed
Palletize FG units as noted on the production schedule
Required to perform all packer and material handler duties to support Composite Extrusion line
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
High School Diploma or equivalent desirable.
Must be Safety conscious oriented
Must be able to comprehend and communicate basic math skills (including fractions).
Must be able to lift, push, pull, boxes 50 pounds or greater
Must be capable and willing to work overtime on short notice
Must be willing to work in hot, fast paced work environment
Must be able to work standing on feet 8 or more hours a day
Must be able read, write, and comprehend work instruction
Must be able to use small hand tools (Calipers, tape Measures, hand saws, etc.)
Must be able to do product quality checks and identify bad product
Must be capable of working with Standard Work processes
Must be able to operate and be certifiable on mobile equipment.
Must be able to learn and utilize problem solving skills for troubleshooting.
Must be able to work in a team setting.
Must be able to complete machine changeovers.
Able to travel
-short term (for training)
