We are seeking a highly skilled Database Engineer / Developer who combines deep relational database expertise with a strong software engineering and application development mindset. In this role, you will not just maintain databases—you will actively architect, write, and optimize high-performance database logic that powers scalable, user-facing applications. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of application backend code and database engine performance, with a proven track record of writing complex SQL queries, tuning execution paths, and collaborating closely with application developers.Key ResponsibilitiesComplex SQL Development: Design, write, and maintain highly complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views to drive core application logic.Performance Optimization & Tuning: Analyze execution plans, optimize indexing strategies, and refactor slow-performing queries to minimize latency and support high-throughput transactions.Application Integration: Collaborate with backend developers to design efficient Data Access Layers and integrate database architectures with RESTful APIs, microservices, and web applications.Data Modeling & Architecture: Create scalable relational data models, logical/physical schema designs, and normalized structures built for real-time application consumption.Backend Alignment: Work alongside software engineers to balance query execution between Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) tools and raw SQL for optimal performance.Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve complex database performance bottlenecks, deadlocks, and execution issues in production application environments.Required Qualifications & SkillsDatabase Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience in database development using SQL Server (T-SQL), PostgreSQL, Oracle (PL/SQL), or MySQL.Application Mindset: Prior experience or strong familiarity with backend programming languages (e.g., C#, .NET, Java, Python, or Node.js).Advanced Query Tuning: Deep understanding of database execution plans, index architecture, query optimization techniques, and schema design best practices.API & Integration Awareness: Understanding of how backend applications consume database resources via APIs, microservices, and ORMs (e.g., Entity Framework, Hibernate, Dapper).Problem-Solving: Ability to translate complex business logic into clean, efficient, and maintainable database code.
