SummaryCompounder must be capable of performing all the tasks required of them in this position from start to finish, including but not limited to staging materials and setting up equipment, learning all components of adhesive mixing and vinyl compounding. They must possess basic math and basic computer skills and be capable of printing pick lists, opening, issuing, and closing jobs in our current tracking system, and print labels for finished materials. Level 1 mixers must be able keep their area clean and organized, follow direction both in written and oral form, and work well alone and with a team.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.Safe operation of pallet jacks, standup, and sit-down forklifts in a production environment.Safe operation of heavy-duty air driven equipment and tools including overhead hoist systemsMust be able to gauge distances and have good depth perception to safely operate hoist system and safely retrieve and return items to the warehouse racksMust be able to stand for the duration of shift aside from scheduled breaksAble to work in an environment with industrial solvents and pigmentsFollow schedule and read job travelers, pick lists, pulls material from the warehouse following FIFO guidelinesTransport raw materials and return unused or partially used materials to the warehouse with proper documentation when applicableFinished materials must be handled, labeled, and stored properlyActively involved in the set-up, mixing/compounding, and cleanup of the mixers, cast tanks, compounding room, and outlying areasIn the first 6 months the Mix Room Level 1 Mixer must learn to fully setup, operate, and clean all equipment necessary to complete all tasks required Additionally in the first 6 months, must be able to perform and have a basic understanding of product testing using a viscometer, PH meter, Hegman gauge, draw down, and spectrophotometerDevelop a basic understanding of the adhesive mixing process, cast vinyl compounding and versating process to effectively troubleshoot production and quality problemsPossess basic computer skills and the ability to perform various shop floor transactions including opening jobs, issuing materials, closing jobs, and printing labelsHeavy lifting is required, must be able to slide and shift drums and/or equipment on occasion and lift 50 pounds repetitively during a shift with the ability to reach, push, and pull, lean, twist, and bend Responsible for housekeeping in the area and following the 5S principlesMust be able to differentiate between all colors to effectively perform color testingMust be able to effectively listen and communicate in a loud and busy environmentMust always maintain a safe working environment and adhere to safety policiesEducation And/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED and manufacturing background preferred.Other Skills And AbilitiesGood oral communication skills – ability to follow instructions both written and oralWorks well in a fast-paced team environment with the ability to work well aloneSelf-motivated and interested in learning multiple functions required for the jobGood mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilityDisplays ability and willingness to follow rules and regulations Must be detail oriented, thorough, and able to focus and follow tasks through from beginning to endMust be able to handle hazardous waste in a safe and proper manner in accordance with General Formulation, local, state, and federal guidelinesWork EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
