Provide solutions for a broad range of landscape architectural and engineering planning issues essential to meeting the campus's development needsProvide general project support for physical facilities planning efforts at NC State. Analyze, document, and develop physical planning projects, policies, procedures, and informal project designs aligned with the University's strategic goalsConsider and evaluate a wide range of multi-disciplinary factors, including social, economic, and environmental impacts, related to the development of the campus's physical facilitiesCoordinate planning efforts with campus design professionals to ensure alignment with long-range physical planning goalsTypical duties include:Developing physical facilities planning and design strategies for exterior campus spacesConducting comparative studies and facilities program analysesIdentifying and developing project alternativesRecommending actions to support implementation of the Physical Master Plan, with a focus on exterior spaces and site designPreparing feasibility studies and physical development plans for campus components such as stormwater management, infrastructure, transportation systems, pedestrian access, and other general planning and development needsDevelop, monitor, and update project budgets to ensure alignment with project scope and funding requirementsVerify budget adequacy for scope of work and review/approve consultant invoices in accordance with University standardsEstablish and maintain comprehensive project schedules and documentation, including meeting minutes key stakeholder communicationsOther ResponsibilitiesThis position requires the ability to:Anticipate issues and formulate options to resolve themManage and prioritize multiple projectsUse goals to guide actions and create detailed action plansSchedule people and tasks to achieve goals with minimal oversightQualificationsMinimum Education and ExperienceEducation* Bachelor's Degree in the Engineering discipline related to the area of assignment; or and equivalent combination of training and experience.ExperienceKnowledge and application of NC building codes and relevant lawsUnderstanding of building design and construction from site analysis to project closeoutExperience with civil, landscape architectural, and utility systemsProven administrative and project management experience including permitting, specifications, and customer serviceApplied knowledge across design, engineering, public safety, technology, and legal complianceExtensive understanding of strategic/master planning, leadership, resource allocation, and community standardsOther Required QualificationsAnalyze programmatic requirements and align designs with site and budget constraintsEvaluate consultant design proposals and produce actionable design solutionsDevelop project outlines, cost estimates, timelines, and planning strategiesProvide guidance to consultants and internal stakeholders during planning and reviewCommunicate effectively through written, verbal, and visual methods across diverse audiencesLead stakeholder meetings, establish expectations, and document project processesUse AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design software for infrastructure planning and documentationPreferred QualificationsLicensure as a Professional Engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors, or as a Landscape Architect by the North Carolina Board of Landscape ArchitectsExperience presenting complex project materials to advisory committees or large public groupsDemonstrated ability to advise on strategic planning and institutional developmentEffective collaboration with senior leadership, contractors, and external stakeholdersExpertise to prepare design plans and schedules for informal (small) projectsRequired License(s) or Certification(s)* Valid North Carolina Driver's License (or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire)* Licensure as a Professional Engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors, or as a Landscape Architect by the North Carolina Board of Landscape Architects. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.Valid NC Driver's License required Yes Commercial Driver's License required No
