Waltonen Engineering is actively seeking a System Safety Engineer to join our team!ResponsibilitiesEvaluate customer requirements for System Safety and determine vehicle complianceConduct System Safety analyses to support safety mitigation recommendations for design solutions and design changes. Document analysis reports and recommendationSupport System Engineering Department in development of the System Specification Document - Safety requirement management – definition, connectivity, traceability, validationCreate Hazard Tracking System (HTS) and Preliminary and Functional Hazard Analysis (PHA & FHA) - as required, to determine compliance to contract and/or System Specification Document. Add other documents as necessaryGenerate, as required, System Safety reports to be submitted to the CustomerManage end to end traceability of the Hazards mitigations for the assigned systemsCreate and manage Human/System Interface Databases, Hazard Logs, Risk Registers andCUIWork with the HW and SW engineers identifying Safety hazards and mitigation strategyQualifications:Only U.S. Citizens may be consideredDegree in any of the system-related disciplines or equivalentSystems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, other engineering will also be consideredMinimum of 7 years of applicable experience; fewer years will be considered with an advanced degreeDemonstrated ability to work within a team environment with minimal supervisionStrong communication, organization, and prioritization skillsMust be able to meet Anthropometric Size Requirements for confined spaceFamiliarity with MIL-STD-882EMust possess or be able to obtain a security clearanceExperience in CameoPreferred QualificationsProfessional certification in Human Factors / Ergonomics (e.g., CCCPE, BCPE) desiredExperience in Human Factors/Ergonomics and System Safety in product designFamiliarity with User Centered Design philosophy and approachesExperience with safety and HFE related Military Standards (e.g., MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-764, MIL-STD-1472) preferredAble to construct and update Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Event Tree Analyses (ETA)An understanding of Functional Failure AnalysisGovernment experience is highly beneficial due to the knowledge required for handling, processing, storing, and marking documentsAll employees are required to work within the confines and responsibilities of the quality system.BenefitsMedical, Dental & Vision InsuranceVacation and Holiday payEmployer matching 401KTuition ReimbursementFlexible Spending Programs (FSAs)Short-Term & Long-Term Disability insuranceEmployee Referral ProgramAdditional Voluntary Benefit ProgramsOff-site company events & Employee LuncheonsWho are we?Founded in 1957 and proudly 100% U.S.-owned, Waltonen has deep roots in Warren, Michigan, and a strong commitment to supporting our local community.
