Mainframe Programmer

Seeking a highly skilled Mainframe System Programmer to manage, maintain, and optimize critical enterprise systems running on IBM z16/z17 mainframes. This role is responsible for ensuring high availability, security, performance, and scalability of the core mainframe environment supporting insurance operations, policy administration, claims processing, and financial systems.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, maintain, and upgrade z/OS operating systems in IBM z16/z17 environmentsPerform system-level programming for IBM mainframe subsystems, including:JES2/JES3SMP/ERACF (Security Administration)WLM (Workload Management)DFSMS (Storage Management)Z/OS DB2Support and maintain key middleware and tools:CICS, IMS, DB2MQ Series (IBM MQ)WebSphere Application Server on z/OSExecute IPL planning, system upgrades, capacity planning, and performance tuningLead disaster recovery planning and testing, ensuring business continuityMonitor system performance using tools such as RMF, SMF, and OMEGAMONImplement security policies, audits, and compliance standards (SOX, HIPAA as applicable)Provide L3 support and troubleshoot complex production incidentsAutomate operational processes using REXX, JCL, and automation tools (e.g., System Automation, NetView)Collaborate with application development teams, infrastructure teams, and vendorsMaintain system documentation, standards, and proceduresDeep understanding of:JES2/JES3, RACF, WLMStorage and dataset management (DASD, DFSMS)
