The Director - Nursing Education Services has responsibility for professional nursing resources, functions, and the framework for nursing excellence at Baptist Hospital and Gulf Breeze Hospital, and may include Jay Hospital. Oversight may include the following: nursing administration, nursing informatics, and the framework of exemplary professional practice; transformational leadership, empirical outcomes/nursing quality, structural empowerment, and new knowledge, innovations and improvement. The position directs the functions of professional nursing resources, Professional Governance, and oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of plans, projects, and programs that support nursing excellence at Baptist Health Care. These activities may include but are not limited to oversight of the following functions: professional governance/councils and co-chairs, GIFT program, DAISY award program, nursing certification, professional recognition program, nursing research, and celebration/recognition events (Nurse's Week, PCT, Certification). The position provides oversight and direction in establishing and maintaining an effective system for developing, reviewing, approving, disseminating, and assuring that clinical practice and standards of practice are current, recognized, and evidence based. The position actively participates in efficient and effective leadership of professional nursing resources, and may participate in supporting nursing professional development, including education and training and development of education and training programs and processes. The position participates, drives and develops activities related to accreditation and patient safety. The Director - Nursing Education Services builds, develops, and maintains a strong, professional leadership team that drives nursing practice excellence and business success.ResponsibilitiesDevelops, implements, and evaluates clinical services functions and clinical practice to ensure quality healthcare programs/services that align with the mission, vision, and values.Participates in Professional Governance activities and functions.Monitors compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and organizational policies for patient care services and environmental/ team member safety.Maintains current knowledge of contemporary, evidence based nursing practice. Assesses need for professional growth and development and takes initiative in seeking opportunities to meet this need.Accurately identifies real/potential problems affecting the clinical nursing services and implements timely and appropriate solutions with prompt follow-through and communication.Participates in the preparation of departmental operational and capital budgets and assists nursing leaders with successful management of approved expenditures.Serves as a resource to nurses and department leaders within and across service lines.Fosters a professional nursing service environment, which aligns with organizational and nursing missions, visions, and philosophy.Actively participates in service, departmental and organizational wide committees, as assigned, providing ongoing and timely communication to all pertinent stakeholders.Seeks opportunities for innovation and creativity (such as, new programs, strategies, enhancements, and projects) in order to successfully position nursing and the organization for future success.Successfully manages operational budgets that reflects required workload, forecasted units of service, and programmatic changes. Monitors budget expenditures, as reflected in an accurate, objective variance analysis.Develops, prioritizes, and supports a capital equipment budget in collaboration with key stakeholders.Maintains current license and knowledge of nursing care requirements for all patients on the unit. Assesses need for personal growth and development and takes the initiative in seeking opportunities to meet this need.Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization's overall mission.Is responsible for department's operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.May manage team members which include orientation, development and evaluation of personnel, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services. Participates in the recruiting, interviewing and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws. Evaluates their performance relative to job goals and requirements. Provides coaching to staff, recommends in-service education programs, and ensures adherence to internal policies and standards.Is responsible for the fiscal management of division; assures proper utilization of organization's financial resources.Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff.QualificationsBachelor's Degree Nursing required andMaster's Degree Business Administration, Nursing, Related field, Health Care, within three (3) years of employment required.4-6 years Clinical experience in an acute care hospital environment, required, and1-3 years supervisory/management experience or program development in an acute care hospital environment, required andRegulatory surveys experience, required.Licenses and CertificationsRegistered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire, requiredProfessional Nursing Certification within 2 Years, preferredRequired Skills, Knowledge and AbilitiesServant leadership style that is innovative, visionary and transformational.In-depth knowledge of contemporary clinical practice standards.Understanding of professional nursing precepts – Code of Ethics, Principles for Nursing Practice and Scope & Standards of Practice.Knowledge of human resource management, program development, fiscal management and regulatory and accrediting agency standards.Excellent interpersonal communication (written and verbal).Problem solving and decision-making skills.Competent with the usage of the Microsoft Office suite of applications/tools.Comprehensive/Liability automobile insurance is required.About UsBaptist Health Care is a not-for-profit health care system committed to improving the quality of life for people and communities in northwest Florida and south Alabama.
