Description This position directs the department employees and distribution supervisors in a cost-efficient manner while adhering to all company, Federal Department of Transportation and union guidelines to ensure the safe and timely distribution of dairy products to our customers. Directing all of the distribution department's daily functions and aspects ensuring communication with all departments of Anderson Erickson Dairy, taking into consideration all pertinent policies and regulations, while managing to achieve maximum efficiency of the department. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Manage drivers within assigned territory Schedule vacations & time off requests Manage Relief Driver assignments Driver appearance Clean uniforms Proper uniforms Responsible for DSD customer product inventory management Ensure drivers are delivering correct products and proper inventories Assist Sales Representative with hiring processes (driver replacement) Working knowledge of all routes in assigned area Manage Route Efficiencies Maintain up to date and current route schedules Cut costs when feasible Cut service when it can work for all parties Monitor Fleet maintenance Oversee Truck Cleanliness Timely Truck repairs - all equipment Oversee Spare Truck(s) Keep in a good state of repair Keep Clean Run Routes as needed after exhausting all other options first Must maintain a Class A CDL Sales Assist Sales Representative with Sales needs to drive the AE brand forward Help grow business in all Walmart locations in area Assist with product promotional execution and follow up as instructed by Sales Representative Assist with case/store resets & shelf cleaning as needed Coordinate new account set ups with Sales Representative Route of service Days of service Manage Driver set up of new accounts Oversee Specials and Special Orders QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Self-motivated with ability to prioritize job duties and meet deadlines. Working knowledge of personal computer systems. (Microsoft Office and AS400) Problem solving experience using process improving techniques and policy compliance. Excellent interpersonal skills. Commitment to quality workmanship, cleanliness of products, facility and employee well-being. Strong verbal communication and ability to write clearly and grammatically correct. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills, and ability to delegate responsibilities. Ability to perform simple mathematical computations. Ability to persuade and motivate others. Ability to resolve people-related problems and be courteous in difficult situations. Ability to tolerate long hours in a standing position. Ability to speak, hear, and see, and to transport self within building. Able to use equipment normal to job junctions, including computer. (forklift and hand held computer) EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree in transportation, business, and equivalent work experience a plus. Four years previous supervisory experience in transportation and logistics operations preferred The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of supervisor leadership skills within a Union environment.
