Advanced Practice Provider - General Cardiology (Pool)

JOB DESCRIPTIONPOSITION SUMMARYThe General Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider (APP - Pool) provides high-quality, evidence-based cardiovascular care on a per diem or as-needed basis to support inpatient and/or outpatient cardiology services. This role is designed to provide flexible clinical coverage while maintaining continuity, safety, and excellence in patient care.The APP practices collaboratively with cardiology physicians and the interdisciplinary care team, exercising independent clinical judgment within granted privileges and established collaborative practice agreements. This position supports patient access, operational stability, and high standards of cardiovascular care.Anticipated availability includes a minimum of 16 hours per month, scheduled as needed based on operational demand.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Perform comprehensive cardiovascular assessments, including history and physical examinations• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic cardiac conditions within scope and privileges• Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic testing including laboratory studies, ECGs, and cardiac imaging• Develop and implement patient-centered treatment plans in collaboration with cardiology physicians• Provide patient and family education focused on disease management, prevention, and wellness• Document clinical care accurately and timely within the electronic health record• Collaborate with nursing, care management, and ancillary services to facilitate continuity of care• Support coverage needs including weekends and holidays as required by operational demands• Adhere to infection control, safety policies, and regulatory standardsQUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION:Nurse Practitioner (NP): Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner programPhysician Assistant (PA): Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant programLICENSE/CERTIFICATION:Current, unencumbered licensure in the State of New Jersey as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician AssistantNational certification in area of specialty (NP or PA)Eligible for and granted clinical privileges by the Medical Staff OfficeBLS and ACLS required; must be AHA certifiedEXPERIENCE:Prior cardiology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or critical care experience preferredExperience in inpatient or ambulatory cardiology strongly preferredPERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONSDemonstrates the ability to meet department-specific competencies as outlined in the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Practices within scope, privileging requirements, and collaborative agreements while maintaining professionalism and clinical accountability.WORK ENVIRONMENTThis role requires standing, walking, reaching, bending, and repetitive motion for extended periods. Work is performed in hospital and/or ambulatory settings with potential exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous substances, and blood-borne pathogens.
