Knowledge of radiologic equipment and procedures and safety hazards common to radiology including equipment, body mechanics and patient movement. Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively and to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions and procedures. Ability to identify and troubleshoot equipment problems and perform simple adjustments./liliLicense/Certification/Registration: Registered with the ARRT in Radiology. Meets the American Heart Associations standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years./li/ulpEssential Functions:/pulliPerforms patient care/technical duties and procedures in an accurate and timely fashion./liliGreets each patient in a pleasant manner./liliReviews requests and evaluates order for appropriate exam and diagnosis./liliAlways checks for two identifiers: Name and Date of Birth./liliExplains the procedure in terms that the patient understands./liliContacts the appropriate individuals for proper scheduling/orders: doctors offices and/or nurses./liliPrepares and positions patients for examinations./liliDetermines and uses proper technique to position patient for view/examination./liliTakes correct views for examination./liliDemonstrates the ability to operate CR, Fluoro and DR rooms safely and efficiently./liliKnows how to operate CR readers and printers./liliPerforms proper start up and shut down of equipment./liliKnows how to transfer images to PACS, scan documents and route./liliKnows how to change priority to STAT or URGENT when deemed necessary./liliAssists the Radiologist and/or Fluoro Tech during fluoroscopic and special procedure examinations./liliMoves portable radiographic equipment for various procedures within the following departments Emergency Dept., Operating Room, PACU and Nursing departments./liliWhile in operating room and for various procedures within the Radiology department, uses proper sterile technique during examination./liliPrepares IV and Oral contrast media for use, and administers contrast media as needed./liliVerbalizes the specific steps taken for contrast reaction and documentation./liliDocuments patient symptoms, history, imaging limitations, date, time of study, and technologist initials in PACS./liliPerforms other related technical patient care duties as assigned./liliMaintains room assignments./liliKeeps work area clean and orderly./liliDemonstrates appropriate radiation safety practices and promotes radiation safety of the patient and staff, applying practices consistent with As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) standards./liliEscorts patients throughout department and/or hospital./liliProvides great customer service to patients, staff and/or anyone else they come in contact with./liliPerforms clerical duties in an efficient, timely, and accurate fashion./liliMonitors the workflow process utilizing PACS, Image release, and CD burner./liliAssists in office functions as needed./liliPerforms office tasks during off shifts./liliComplies with and performs quality assurance duties as assigned./liliExplains policies, procedures and clerical functions to radiology students as directed./li/ulpNon-Essential Functions:/pulliPerforms related and miscellaneous duties as assigned./li/ulpShift: Evening shift; every 3rd weekend/ppSpecialty Type: Diagnostic Imaging/ppSub Specialties: Radiologic Technologist/ppGeneral Certifications: Allied Health Certifications(ARRT(R))/p/div
