Job Description:The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals according to approved menus while maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation.This role supports daily kitchen operations, ensures proper food handling and storage, manages inventory levels, and collaborates with kitchen staff to deliver meals efficiently while meeting dietary requirements.Responsibilities:Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner items by following specific recipes and approved meal plans.Cook large quantities of food while maintaining proper portion control, quality, and taste.Follow food safety standards including proper handling, storage, and preparation of food items.Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen area, equipment, and utensils.Wash dishes and ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized.Assist with inventory management by tracking ingredients and notifying supervisors of low stock.Support the receipt and proper storage of food supplies.Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.Interact with students, staff, or customers while serving meals and addressing dietary requirements.Record temperatures of food items and kitchen equipment.Maintain documentation related to food usage and waste management.Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during food preparation and service.Maintain proper hygiene and cleanliness in all food preparation areas.Support staff by assisting with additional cleaning and maintaining kitchen sanitation.Communicate with supervisors regarding food-related concerns or operational needs.Requirement/Must Have:Basic verbal and written communication skills.Ability to prepare and serve meals and snacks according to approved menus.Familiarity with meal requirements and nutritional guidelines for children.Basic knowledge of child nutrition including management of food allergies and dietary restrictions.Basic arithmetic skills including fractions, percentages, and ratios.Ability to interpret written instructions and follow documented procedures.Skills:Meal preparation and cooking.Food safety and sanitation practices.Kitchen operations and organization.Inventory tracking and supply management.Communication and teamwork.Record keeping and documentation.Qualification And Education:Completion of First Aid and Infant CPR training as required.
