Engineering Manager – Wilmington, NC
A long‑term leadership role for a seasoned engineering professional
We’re looking for an experienced, people‑focused Engineering Manager to serve as the technical leader for our coastal Wilmington, NC manufacturing facility. This is a high‑impact role for a mid‑career engineering professional-ideally someone with12–18 years of experience- who is ready to put down roots, build a strong team, and shape the long‑term technical direction of a critical site.
You will report directly to the Plant Manager and serve as thesite’s technical authority , providing governance, coaching, and decision‑making—not daily operations oversight. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys developing engineers, guiding capital project strategy, and ensuring technical rigor across environmental, process safety, and engineering disciplines.
What You’ll Lead
Develop and mentor early‑career engineers(Environmental, Process Safety, and Project Engineering), building capability, confidence, and long‑term bench strength.
Set and uphold engineering standardsfor the site, serving as the final technical approval authority for design, specifications, and engineering practices.
Guide environmental engineering and permitting , ensuring compliance while coaching early‑career engineers who execute day‑to‑day work.
Provide technical governance for capital projects , including FEL, scope definition, and design approval, while delegating daily project development to a junior project engineer.
Oversee Process Safety Management (PSM)at a governance level—ensuring PHAs, DHAs, MOCs, and compliance activities are technically sound and properly staffed.
Partner with Operations and Maintenanceto translate operating needs into engineering solutions and eliminate recurring issues.
Exercise stop‑work authoritywhen technical, safety, or PSM concerns arise.
Champion a strong safety culture , modeling expectations and reinforcing safe behaviors across the site.

This is a leadership and governance role—not a shift‑based or execution‑heavy position. You willnotbe responsible for:
Daily plant operations or supervision
Control room or field execution
Craft labor or contractor supervision outside engineering scope
Project scheduling or construction execution

Qualifications
10+ years of engineering experience in chemical or process manufacturing
5+ years of engineering leadership or supervisory experience
5+ years of capital project experience with technical scope ownership for projects >$2MM
Experience serving as a technical authority in a PSM‑regulated environment
Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and relevant engineering standards
Bachelor’s degree inChemical Engineering
