Job Title: Construction Inspector-MechanicalWork Location: Huntsville, ALSalary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interviewREQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screenJob Summary:Involves monitoring construction, operations, maintenance, and/or repair activities to ensure conformance with MSFC standards, including construction and performance specifications, code requirements, and contract construction drawings.Duties/ResponsibilitiesProvide inspection and surveillance of construction, operations, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure the work is in accordance with the contract.Monitor submittals utilizing a submittal status log.Review and comment on the accuracy of the construction contractor's requests for payment.Review and acknowledge daily reports including verification of the project schedule by indicating the activities worked on that day and the activities behind schedule.Maintain an Inspectors Site Inspection Report.Maintain orderly working files for correspondence, minutes of meetings and conferences, payments, updated progress schedules, monthly progress reports, punch lists, field changes,Monitor requests for Information (RFI), and contract documents including amendments, notices to proceed, change orders, modifications, and other locally generated documents developed during the construction period.Participate in pre-final and final inspections, assist in preparations for detailed punch-lists and check that all punch list items are corrected prior to final payment.Verify accurate as-built drawings on a weekly basisAssist in review and comment on all O&M Manuals.Education/Experience:High School Diploma (or equivalent)5+ years of applicable experience on construction projectsExperience as a master or journeyman HVAC technician is a plusArmy Corp of Engineering (USACE), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) or other federal project construction experience is preferred.Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable.Computer proficiency (MS Office-Word, Excel, and Outlook)Knowledge of business office procedures.Ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written instructions.Ability to read and understand construction contract drawings.Ability to inspect and confirm construction work conforms to design drawings and specifications.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, and other involved parties.Must be well organized and detail oriented.Physical Requirements:Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignmentsAbility to carry required instruments and equipmentAbility to safely lift and carry 40 poundsAbility to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat.Benefits:Competitive salary based on experience.Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.Retirement savings plan with company match.Paid time off and holidays.Professional development and career advancement opportunities.A supportive and collaborative work environment.
