COOK - Applications are now being accepted for a cook position with the Youth Center of the High Plains. This position requires some evenings, weekends, and holidays. Submission to a drug test, physical evaluation, and background check is required. Randall County is an E.O.E.
Starting salary is $39,967.39 ($19.22 hourly) with the opportunity for a 5% increase after 2 years, plus full county benefits which include optional health, dental, and vision plans, bereavement leave, longevity pay, holiday leave, vacation, sick leave, up to a 2% cost of living raise annually, up to a 1% performance increase annually, plus much more.

Definition
This position involves all aspects of preparing nutritious meals, maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen and working environment, and following all laws, regulations and policy as required.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Follow daily menu plans and approved recipes, requesting supervisory approval for any menu changes.
Comply with USDA/TDA regulations.
Prepare nutritious meals for juveniles and staff.
Serve all meals in accordance with assigned mealtimes.
Maintain daily record of all meals served.
Maintain accurate inventory of food and supplies.
Maintain sanitary kitchen conditions and records as required by the local health department.
Conduct thorough and regular cleaning of all major equipment and appliances according to schedule.
Adhere to hygiene policies according to health department and HACCP standards.
Prepare and serve special diets according to medical staff and administration.
Maintain security by proper use and storage of cooking utensils.
Follow the directives of security personnel/supervisors in all matters of safety and security.
Knowledge of:
Food handling and preparation
Applicable federal, state, and local health laws such as USDA, TDA, NSLP, Child Nutrition, and HACCP
Experience in institutional cooking and serving – preferred
Ability to:
Comply with state and local health requirements
Learn and comply with departmental policies and procedures
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Treat all individuals in the workplace with dignity and respect
Coordinate with many different people toward a common goal
Licenses or Certificates:
Food Handler/Serve Safe Certification – required – may obtain upon employment
Requirements:
At least 21 years of age
Position involves long periods of standing, frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, and remaining on a rigid schedule.
