Job Summary:
PHD Machining is seeking an experienced CNC Vertical Mill Machinist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling machines, including both 3-axis and 5-axis equipment. This role requires strong setup skills, attention to detail, and the ability to produce high-precision components in a fast-paced machining environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Setup and operate CNC vertical milling machines (3-axis and 5-axis)
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions Load tools, set offsets, and verify program accuracy Perform first article inspections and in-process quality checks Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust programs/offsets as needed Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards Work with engineering and programming teams to optimize setups Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow safety procedures
Qualifications:
3+ years of CNC milling experience preferred
Experience with 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines Ability to perform complete machine setups independently Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading Experience with common controls (Haas, Fanuc, or similar) Familiarity with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills:
Experience machining aerospace or tight-tolerance components
Basic editing of G-code Experience with high-mix, low-volume production
