This role focuses on the implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning of databases across both UNIX and Windows platforms.The ideal candidate will have experience with Oracle and SQL-based systems and will contribute to the design and support of enterprise database architectures, including environments supporting SAP systems.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport enterprise database implementation, administration, and maintenanceAssist in the development and optimization of database server architectureInstall, configure, and maintain Oracle RDBMS and related softwareMonitor database and server performance, ensuring high availability and reliabilityPerform database tuning and optimization of instance parameters for peak performanceSupport database environments across UNIX and Windows platformsCollaborate with application, infrastructure, and SAP teams to ensure seamless integrationTroubleshoot and resolve database performance and operational issuesEnsure compliance with Fairfax County standards and best practicesCore Skills & Technologies Databases: Oracle RDBMS, SQL ServerPlatforms: UNIX/Linux and Windows environmentsDatabase Performance Tuning and OptimizationBackup, Recovery, and High Availability strategiesDatabase Security and Access ControlExperience supporting SAP environments using Oracle (preferred)Available Roles / Specializations Candidates may support one or more of the following roles: Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)Oracle for SAP Database ArchitectSQL Database DeveloperSQL Database AdministratorQualifications 2-4 years of experience in database administration or developmentExperience with Oracle and/or SQL-based database systemsFamiliarity with enterprise database environments and architecturesStrong analytical and troubleshooting skillsAbility to work collaboratively across technical teamsExperience in government or regulated environments is a plusWork Location & Schedule On-site or hybrid depending on contract requirementsPrimary location: Fairfax County Government Center 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA 22035Standard hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (30-minute lunch)May require participation in an on-call rotationMust adhere to Fairfax County and/or FCPS holiday and inclement weather policiesAdditional Requirements Ability to work on-site at County or approved offsite locations as neededTime worked outside approved hours is not billableTimesheets must be submitted for all work performedStaff may not perform work for other clients during assigned County hoursBenefits Navteca offers a comprehensive benefits package, including: Medical InsuranceDental InsuranceLife and AD&D InsuranceShort-Term and Long-Term Disability (STD/LTD)401(k) Retirement PlanPaid VacationPaid HolidaysPaid Sick LeaveComp/Flex Time
