Port Engineer
Port Engineer The Port Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of the inland towing vessels within the company's fleet. This role requires a strong understanding of marine engineering, vessel systems, and regulatory compliance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the fleet. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our assets. Responsibilities include: Overseeing the maintenance and repair of inland towing vessels, including engines, propulsion systems, electrical systems, and auxiliary equipment Executing established preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and availability of our fleet Coordinating and supervising vessel dry-dockings, repairs, and major overhauls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards Managing and tracking vessel maintenance schedules, work orders, and spare parts inventory to optimize vessel availability and minimize downtime Conducting regular inspections of vessels to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements Collaborating with the operations team to address technical issues and provide engineering support for vessel operations Reviewing and approving technical specifications for vessel repairs and modifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices Providing technical guidance and support to vessel crews and maintenance staff to ensure safe and reliable vessel operation Monitoring and analyzing vessel performance data to identify opportunities for operational improvements and efficiency gains Staying updated on industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to recommend and implement best practices within the fleet Demonstrates strong technology proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office TWIC Card Familiarity with Coast Guard and Subchapter M regulations preferred Preferred Attributes: Strong communication skills, leadership presence, attention to detail, proactive problem-solving ability and a commitment to continuous improvement towards the goal of zero safety incidents
