Facilities Worker - Full-time

This position provides a flexible schedule Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm; 40 hours a week.Salary: $19.96 - $22.24This position will remain open until filled with preference given to applications submitted before 04/10/2026 4:30pm.Primary Objective of PositionThe Facilities Worker is primarily responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of bus shelters. The position will also assist with other maintenance, cleaning, renovation and repair of Metro Bus property and facilities.Essential Functions of the PositionEssential duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them if the work is similar, related or logical to the position.Responsible for bus shelter cleaning, repairs and maintenanceResponsible for cleanliness and general maintenance of all Metro Bus sheltersGeneral cleaning of shelter areas including interior and exterior walls, floor/ground, windows, removing graffiti and emptying trashGeneral maintenance of the exterior areas including weed control and removalUpdates Metro Bus communication materials posted throughout the shelter locationsPlace and remove temporary bus stop signs along Metro Bus routesSnow removal from inside shelters and walkways around sheltersAssist with general interior and exterior maintenance, renovation and repair of Metro Bus facilitiesAssists with operation of industrial sized cleaning equipment such as steam cleaners, pressure washers, carpet extractors, floor buffers, high lights, scissor lifts, forklifts and skid loader. Assists with monitoring equipment function and safe operating conditionAssists with completion of scheduled facility maintenance checks and procedures including routine maintenance of car wash system.May assist with general renovations to include, but not limited to, welding; wall construction; painting; installation of doors, windows, ceilings, sheet rock, trip and brick; landscapingAssist with light mechanical trouble-shooting and repairCommunicates courteously and professionally and maintains respectful working relationships with coworkers and customers in carrying out job functionsPerforms all job duties in compliance with safety guidelines and with an ongoing awareness of safety practicesKnows and follows safety rules and guidelines as well as sound work and safety practices in order to accomplish the job objectives and avoid injury or lossWears proper protective equipment when policy requires or conditions indicate a need exists and utilizes proper body mechanics and ergonomics while performing workWhen potentially unsafe conditions are observed, makes efforts to avoid or correct them if they are controllable and draws them to the attention of the responsible supervisor or safety representative in a timely mannerPerforms other duties and activities as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe job requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience performing janitorial and/or industrial cleaning duties or cleaning, maintaining vehicles, equipment and/or property, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge, skills and abilities required include:Knowledge of principles of commercial cleaning and housekeepingAbility to establish and maintain effective working and public relationshipsAbility to deal tactfully and courteously with co-workers and the general publicMust be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekendsInterpersonal skills sufficient to exchange and or convey information, receive work direction, and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees, committees and groups; and to diffuse situations/conversations that have escalated beyond normal limitsDesirable QualificationsNonePhysical Demands and Working EnvironmentThis position is predominately in a maintenance shop requiring extended periods of walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling and reaching. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basisModerate exposure to temperature extremes, noise, physical and/or chemical hazardsUtilizes personal computers, phone and other office equipment on an occasional basisMay require some travel outside of the maintenance shop.
