Neurosurgery APP Needed in Mansfield, Texas

Job OverviewNeurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) needed in Mansfield, Texas. The role is part of a rapidly growing Neurosurgery Program and involves collaboration with surgeons, APPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver patient-centered care from pre‑operative assessment to post‑operative recovery and discharge.ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive history and physical examinations for pre‑operative and post‑operative neurosurgery patients.Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests (labs, imaging) and make appropriate clinical decisions based on findings.Perform and assist with procedures within scope of practice and privileging.Participate in daily rounds with the surgical team, presenting patient updates, discussing treatment plans, and making recommendations.Manage acute and chronic medical conditions; consult with other specialists as needed.Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment plan, surgical procedures, risks and benefits, and post‑operative care instructions.Provide clear and concise discharge instructions, ensuring understanding of medication regimens, activity restrictions, wound care, and follow‑up appointments.Support patient and family with emotional care and answer questions.Collaborate with neurosurgeons, APPs, nursing staff, intensivists, and other professionals for seamless care.Facilitate effective communication among healthcare team, patients, and families.Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR) documenting assessments, progress notes, orders, and procedures.Ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory documentation requirements.Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, and evidence-based practice within the Neurosurgery department.Engage in continuing education, conferences, and professional organizations to stay current with neurosurgical advancements.Contribute to education and training of nursing staff, students, and other healthcare professionals.QualificationsBachelor's degree and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.Current, unencumbered Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Texas license.Board certification with BLS and ACLS certification; DEA registration required.Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a surgical APP, with prior neurosurgery, critical care, or related surgical specialty experience highly preferred.Excellent clinical assessment, diagnostic, and problem‑solving skills.Strong critical thinking and decision‑making abilities.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.Exceptional communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and teaching skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced clinical environment.Working ConditionsInpatient and outpatient position with exposure to ICU, step‑down units, and surgical floors.MAY require long hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on‑call rotation.Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, and lifting patients or equipment as needed.Application InstructionsInterested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume to Jasmine Ramirez, Provider Recruiter at jasmineramirez@mhd.com.
