Executive Chair - IRV for Texas - Volunteer
Few volunteer roles come with this much leadership — or this much impact. As Executive Chair, you'll lead a statewide organization working to change how Texas elections are decided.Instant Runoff Voting for Texas (IRV for Texas) is a nonpartisan, volunteer-run organization working to advance instant runoff voting (also known as ranked choice voting) in Texas. We're generally aligned with national groups like FairVote and Rank the Vote but operate independently. We focus on what works best — and what can actually get done in Texas. What you're responsible forAs Executive Chair, you'll lead IRV for Texas — growing the organization and building its momentum. In practice, that means:● Rallying and coordinating volunteers, board members, and partner organizations● Setting the advocacy agenda — which cities, which campaigns, which partners to prioritize● Being the public face of the organization to legislators, local officials, donors, media, and allied groups● Keeping irvfortexas.org and public communications current● Ensuring administrative tasks needed to run the organization get done● Prioritizing among competing demands on the organization’s resourcesTime commitmentRoughly 10-15 hours a week for someone organized, well-networked and familiar with IRV. More during legislative sessions and active campaigns. Most of the responsibilities can be accomplished by other volunteers; that requires recruiting, delegating and following up on delegated responsibilities. What we're looking forFamiliarity with instant runoff voting or ranked choice voting is helpful but not required. What matters more:● An organizational instinct for building and running a lean operation● Comfort with both public advocacy and quieter relationship work● Genuine interest in electoral reform● A working network in Texas civic, political, or policy circlesReach out to us!We'd love to hear from you.
