This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in running complex processes safely, values teamwork, and wants to continue growing their technical skills in a stable, well‑run operation. Our Wilmington, NC manufacturing site is more than a chemical plant-it’s a close‑knit, highly experienced team operating on a unique, expansive campus near the Cape Fear River and the North Carolina coast. Your responsibilities will include:Operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting resin manufacturing processes to maintain quality and reliabilityFollowing established SOPs to complete tasks, perform inspections, and take corrective action when neededUnloading and handling raw materials in accordance with safety and operating proceduresPreparing equipment for maintenance, submitting work notifications, and completing minor mechanical “fix‑it‑yourself” tasksActively participating in safe work practices, including lockout/tagout and work permittingMaintaining strong housekeeping standards across operating areas, control rooms, break areas, and plant vehiclesCross‑training and certifying in multiple operating areas as you build depth and flexibilityWorking collaboratively with teammates, maintenance, and supervision to support production goalsWork Schedule12‑hour rotating shift scheduleOvertime and schedule flexibility may be required based on business needsQualificationsRequired Skills:High School Diploma or GEDValid driver’s licenseExperience in industrial utilities or chemical manufacturing, or similar process-driven environmentsExperience troubleshooting / applying mechanical skills for minor repairs on process equipmentBasic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)Preferred Skills2-year minimum experience in industrial utilities or chemical manufacturingChemical material handling experienceExperience moving and spotting railcarsSAP experienceForklift certified Required Physical Ability / Working ConditionsAbility to work outdoors and indoors in varying temperatures and weather conditionsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing stairs and ladders, standing, stooping, pushing, and pulling for up to 12 hoursWillingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and on‑call coverage as neededAbility to successfully complete a Physical Abilitiies Test (PAT)Why Join UsBe part of a stable, safety‑focused manufacturing site with a strong reputationWork with a team that values experience, accountability, and continuous learningGain exposure to complex operations and utilities that build long‑term career valueEducationHigh school diploma or GEDEstablished in 1932, Stepan Company is a major manufacturer of basic and intermediate chemicals including surfactants, polymers, as well as specialty ingredients that go into consumer, household, and institutional products such as laundry detergents, shampoos, and surface cleaners.
