Through both classroom instruction and clinical supervision, you'll inspire students to develop the critical thinking, empathy, and clinical judgment needed to care for individuals experiencing mental health challenges.Job DutiesWhat you'll do:Deliver engaging instruction through classroom teaching, clinical rotations, and simulation-based learning in the Mental Health Nursing course. This is a fully in person position.Design meaningful and interactive learning experiences that bridge nursing theory with real-world clinical application.Facilitate learning using the nursing judgment model, emphasizing clinical reasoning, diagnostic skills, and individualized care planning.Develop clinical assignments that are appropriately challenging and prioritize both student learning and patient safety.Supervise, guide, and evaluate students during clinical experiences, offering constructive, timely, and supportive feedback.Assess student performance and provide detailed, growth-oriented feedback on clinical paperwork, reflections, and care plans.Proactively identify students who may be struggling and connect them with academic or personal support resources early in the semester.Participate in regular teaching team meetings to align course content, expectations, and strategies for promoting student success.Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with clinical partners; serve as a representative of the CCSF Nursing Program in all external collaborations.Contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts by actively participating in outcomes assessment and maintaining open communication with clinical site partners.Your role in our CCSF and Registered Nursing community:Join department meetings and committees to help shape our program.Participate in curriculum development and program improvement.Stay current with best practices in mental health nursing and ACEN standards.Teach 3 lecture hours and 18 clinical hours weekly (18.3 workload per semester).Work flexibly across day, evening, and occasional weekend schedules.Help students develop critical thinking skills they'll use throughout their careers.Uphold educational standards while bringing your unique perspective to our team.Ready to inspire the next generation of nurses? Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.2. Earned Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT;OREarned Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution AND earned Master's Degree in Health Education or Health Science from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT;ANDthe minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing. Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which the faculty is assigned can be met by one of the following:(A) One (1) year's continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area (Psychosocial Nursing)OR(B) One (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area (Psychosocial Nursing) or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency.5. Completion of at least one (1) year's experience teaching courses related to registered nursing or completion of a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing.Employment is contingent upon the approval of the Board of Registered Nursing and verification of minimum qualifications.Desirable QualificationsMental Health Nursing Expertise: Taught in an accredited nursing program or led professional development in mental healthcare settings for at least one year, or completed graduate coursework with teaching practice.Tech-Savvy Educator: Utilized and was able to leverage digital tools for at least one year to enhance learning, streamline curriculum development, and prepare students for today's healthcare environment.Associate Degree Nursing Student Success Champion: Worked with Associate Degree Registered Nursing students for at least one year and utilized tools to help them reach their professional goals through mentorship and supportive guidance.Community Connector: Worked with clinical agencies for at least one year in order to build and maintain relationships with healthcare partners that create opportunities for students.Flexible Team Player: Worked as part of a team for at least one year in the hospital or education setting.
