Network Engineer

Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Network Engineer for our client, a fully accredited laboratory specializing in a range of health-related testing services. This is a contract position based onsite in Portland, OR.POSITION OVERVIEWWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Engineer to support and maintain our client’s network infrastructure within a general office and lab environment. This role will work closely with Desktop Support, Quality Analysts, external consultants, and the Lab IT Systems Engineer to ensure reliable, secure, and well-documented network operations.PERKSCompetitive hourly rate of $53-58/HR (based on experience)Opportunity to step into a high-impact, visible role supporting critical IT operationsWork closely with leadership and compliance teams in a security-focused environmentExposure to modern cloud, endpoint, and network technologies across a growing organizationRESPONSIBILITIESInstall, configure, and maintain network hardware including switches, routers, and related infrastructureMonitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity and hardware-level issuesAssist with network design, implementation, and upgradesManage and support Microsoft 365 cloud environment, including user access, security, and integrationsWork closely with Quality Analysts to support compliance, testing, and validation requirementsCreate and maintain accurate documentation of network infrastructure, configurations, and proceduresCollaborate with external consultants and internal engineering teams, especially during the initial onboarding periodSupport lab and office environments with stable and secure network connectivityParticipate in incident response and root cause analysis for network-related issuesQUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience3+ years of experience working with network infrastructure and hardwareHands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration and cloud servicesStrong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP)Experience configuring and managing network switches and related hardwareAbility to troubleshoot both hardware and cloud-based systemsStrong documentation and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively across teams and with external partnersPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in lab or regulated environmentsFamiliarity with Azure Active Directory and Microsoft 365 security featuresRelevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, Network+, Microsoft certifications)Experience working alongside consultants or third-party vendorsCOMPENSATION & BENEFITSThis contract position offers an hourly rate of $53-58/HR, commensurate with experience.
