Salary commensurate with experience*Overview:Location: New JerseySalary: $95,000 – $105,000We are seeking a COBOL Developer who will support our client with the maintenance, enhancement, and modernization of enterprise applications in a mainframe environment. This role is responsible for developing and supporting stable, efficient solutions that enable critical business operations and improve system performance. The ideal candidate is experienced in COBOL development and comfortable working across legacy systems, batch processing, and production support.Duties: Develop, maintain, test, and support COBOL applications in a mainframe environmentAnalyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective application solutionsModify existing programs to correct defects, improve performance, and support changing business needsWrite, execute, and document unit tests and support system and user acceptance testingDevelop and maintain JCL for batch processing and job schedulingWork with databases and file structures to support application functionality and data integrityTroubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement timely resolutionsPrepare technical documentation, including program specifications, testing results, and support proceduresCollaborate with developers, analysts, testers, and business stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycleSupport deployment activities and post-implementation validation for application updates and enhancementsMandatory Qualifications:Associate’s degree or combination of experience and education5+ years of experience developing and maintaining COBOL applications3+ years of experience working in an IBM mainframe environment3+ years of experience with JCL and batch processing3+ years of experience with CICS, DB2, VSAM, or comparable mainframe technologies2+ years of experience with application maintenance, troubleshooting, and production support2+ years of experience with software testing, debugging, and defect resolution2+ years of experience reviewing technical requirements and translating them into development tasksExperience with full software development lifecycle activities, including design, development, testing, implementation, and supportExperience preparing technical and system documentationAbility to analyze and resolve complex technical issues in legacy application environmentsAbility to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholdersStrong written and verbal communication skillsCloud and Things complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding recruitment and hiring.
