Now Hiring: Metallurgical EngineerLocation: Decatur, IL (Onsite)Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (OT and occasional travel as needed)Pay Rate: $32 - $35 an hrWe are seeking a Metallurgical Engineer to join an established metallurgical laboratory supporting the quality and performance of mining and construction equipment components. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on materials evaluation, failure analysis, and laboratory testing within an ISO-accredited environment.What You’ll DoPerform failure analysis on returned components and qualify parts against metallurgical specificationsSupport root cause corrective actions in collaboration with design, manufacturing, process, and quality teamsDevelop and execute test plans, including destructive and non-destructive evaluationsConduct laboratory testing such as metallography, microscopy, fractography, SEM/EDS analysis, and mechanical testing (tensile, Charpy, hardness)Interpret results, prepare technical documentation, and communicate findings to internal teams and external partnersMaintain compliance with ASTM standards and support ISO 17025 (A2LA) laboratory accreditation requirementsTypical Work EnvironmentBlend of laboratory, shop floor, and desk-based documentation workRegular collaboration with failure analysis engineers, NDE teams, laboratory staff, quality engineers, suppliers, and customersQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science EngineeringPreferred: 3+ years of relevant experience in a metallurgical or materials engineering roleExperience or coursework exposure to laboratory testing and materials characterizationTechnical SkillsMetallography, microscopy, and fractographyNon-destructive evaluation (NDE)Mechanical and hardness testingSEM / EDS analysis and interpretationProfessional SkillsStrong critical thinking and decision-making abilityClear written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering-related computer systems#INDOEM
